Problem with Holden cruze. Do you agree?
I own a holden cruze CDX sedan only (came out in 2009) in Australia (Melbourne), I found some shortcoming and flaws in my opinion. Does anyone else agreed with me?
1. Holden didn't even think of installing air conditioning vents situated anywhere close to the rear passenger for the purpose of comfort ideal for easy access to cool air even on a low setting (low blow pressure) so that air can reach the back of the car. (FLAW as even the holden astra has this). This can only be achieved by adjusting climate control setting to level 3 (turning the knob). Loud noise results from this, especially audit able from the driver seat, less but still hearable from passengers sitting at the back. The designers really didn't think of this b/coz i find this really annoying say in a situation where it was a hot day and I was the driver sitting in a full car. I would be wearing shorts and a singlet, I would have to be freezing my ass off so that the other passengers could be cool not to mention having to put up with the noise. Holden really have to consider NOISE REDUCTION when they make modifications to the 2010 version.
2. Here is a flaw that I was wondering if only applied to my car (meaning it is defective) or is just standard across the line of all cruze's.The holden cruze takes a while to pick up speed, slower than other cars I've driven, mainly holden commodores and the astra, it's not normal, I mean if you gradually stepped on the accelerator normally with other cars the engine doesn't really rev at all, however with the holden cruze if you were to do the same thing (gradually step on the accelerator) the engine makes a moderate rev noise, and unless you want to go at between 20-30km phr, you really have to step on the accelerator pretty hard so the car picks up speed each time you want to go again after you have stopped this makes the engine rev up pretty loud (I only image this can reck your engine and wastes fuel faster ). This sound however, can be masked by the air conditioning being on.The loud engine can be a bit annoying if you live around a heavily built up area containing road signs and traffic lights which is most likely to cause congestion requiring you to stop every couple of minutes. You probably be getting a lot of honks from other motorist if you wanted to be kind to your engine. In most situation, you would most likely be forced to 'drive hard' (step on the accelerator). My holden Cruze is a noisy car which might be due to the fact that its brand new (driven less than 200km) but doubt it, but I am just hoping the shortcomings will just eventually phase out as the car is used more often. However to reflect on the positives; it does save 0.5 L fuel per 100km more than the holden astra (info from the car dealer) and look a 'hell of a lot' better than the astra (inside), offers leather seats (for the higher end model) at a bargain price, 5 star safety rating and finally does run very smoothly when going at a constant speed (eg. on highway or freeway). You definitely have to test drive it and concentrate on the flaws that I described today to see whether you and other passengers can tolerate the shortcomings.
3. Reverse parking sensors can be quite annoying with the never-ending beeps and would be nice to know it could be re-configured in someway (lower distance from objects; in metres) but I guess it takes some getting use to
My advise is that don't buy the 2009 model, don't be fooled by fact that it's a popular car selling out like crazy. Which means it most likely not gonna have a '2009 run-out sale' at the beginning of '2010'. Wait till next year to test drive the 2010 model to see if the flaws I described are still present. It's really a good stylish car, shame that it has all those embedded flaws.
